ROBERT BALANDA LLB. Partner
ROBERT BALANDA LLB.
Rob was admitted as a solicitor in 1979 in Queensland and prior to that in N.S.W. He practices principally in the areas of management rights, business law, asset protection and property strategies, and commercial conveyancing. He has been a part-time lecturer at the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE, Bond University and the R.E.I.Q. Rob is also a past President of the Gold Coast Toastmasters Club, past Chairman of the Gold Coast TAFE Association and former Vice-President of the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Rob is the author of ‘Clauses Made Simple’ a legal precedent book of Clauses which is designed to assist people who prepare Real Estate and Business Contracts on a daily basis. His book has now become an industry standard.
Rob is also the author of a number of other audio CD products which are in heavy demand amongst investors and developers dealing with asset protection, how options are used to minimise tax and as a vehicle to buy and sell real estate and business, and joint ventures.

MITCHELL CLARK LLB. Partner
Mitchell completed his Law degree at Queensland University of Technology in 1988 and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1991. He has also been admitted to the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Mitchell has been awarded Specialist Accreditation in the field of Personal Injuries from the Queensland Law Society and completed the Society’s Practice Management course in 1997. He is currently a member of various organisations including;
Current President of the Management Committee of the Gold Coast Centre Against Sexual Violence (GCCASV); Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Association (APLA); Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) – International Member; Standards Australia; Partner in Advocacy with Unicare; Society for the Advancement of Travel for the Handicapped (SATH); ACROD – The National Industry Association for Disability Services; the Brain Injury Association of Qld Inc.; and Past President of the Rotary Club of Broadwater, Southport. Mitchell has a wide range of legal experience and interests, predominantly in litigation, risk management, and dispute resolution. His current law projects include providing advice to psychologists on legal issues (such as their duty of care, disclosure of documents, confidentiality, and report writing). Mitchell’s primary role within the firm is to provide litigation services which he does with a strong attitude of caring for people balanced with sound organisational efficiency. A current Court case took Mitchell to Osaka earlier this year, where he enjoyed the people, foods and culture.
JONATHAN FLANNERY BSc. LLB. Partner
Jonathan was admitted as a Solicitor in 1983 and has practised extensively in both Queensland and New South Wales. He is a qualified mediator.
He has a strong practice in migration law and heads our migration division, Migration Lawyers Australia. He has completed studies in immigration law with distinction and is a registered migration agent.
He also has extensive general litigation experience, in migration appeals, personal injury work, workplace relations and industrial law, criminal law, debt collection and commercial litigation.
Jonathan also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Biochemistry major) and has a special interest in forensic medicine.
He holds the honorary role as solicitor to the Gold Coast Welfare Inter-agency, the Citizens Advice Bureau Gold Coast Inc. and the Highway Legal Service. He is Vice-President of the latter two organisations. He periodically gives lectures and talks to various agency groups. He is MBA’s information technology partner. His sporting interests include track and field, triathlon, rugby union and cricket. He is a qualified pilot. Jonathan is an independent director on the Board of Triathlon Queensland.

ANTONY KNOX LLB. Partner
Antony was admitted as a Solicitor in 1990 having completed his Bachelor of Laws degree at Queensland University of Technology in 1988. He practised in Brisbane and overseas prior to relocating to the Gold Coast in March 1993.
Antony’s experience is primarily in litigation with extensive involvement in the former Local Government Court (now Planning and Environment Court) on behalf of both developers and local authorities. His current practice focuses on Planning & Environment Law, commercial litigation and Body Corporate disputes. His recent Court case was successfully representing the Gold Coast City Council in a major shopping centre dispute involving several millions of dollars.
Antony has lectured in Real Estate Law at the Gold Coast Institute of Technology. Antony has been involved in rugby union for more than twelve years (representing Queensland in 1987, 1988 and 1989) and local Surf Life Saving. He is married with two children.
CLAYTON GLENISTER B.A. LLB. Partner
Clayton completed his Bachelor of Law Degree at Bond University in 2001 having completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Government and International Relations at the University of Queensland in 2000.
Clayton commenced with McDonald Balanda & Associates in 2002 and practices extensively in the fields of Body Corporate Law, Management Rights, Development work, business and general conveyancing, and all aspects of Commercial Law.
Clayton is an also author of a number of recent articles in the Australian Property Investor magazine and also lectures at the Real Estate Institute of Queensland.
Clayton continues to work in conjunction with Robert Balanda in relation to the Body Corporate and Management Rights focus of McDonald Balanda & Associates.
Clayton is admitted as a solicitor in both Queensland and New South Wales, and handles all New South Wales Management Rights transactions within the firm.

TONY LENAN LLB. Senior Consultant
Tony has resided on the Gold Coast all his life and obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Queensland University of Technology in 1986, and was admitted as a solicitor in 1986. He has experience in a wide range of areas of law, however, in recent years has concentrated on the commercial/property areas.
Tony has assisted clients with the development of both large and small residential and commercial ventures and is also actively involved in property development, body corporate law, management rights, conveyancing, small business advice, and leasing. Currently, one of his major projects is representing the developer of a large hi-rise tower in the centre of Surfers Paradise. He has lectured at TAFE College in real estate law, is a past President of the Southport Apex Club and is actively involved with a number of Gold Coast organisations. He is married with four children.
BARRY MORWOOD B.A. LLB Consultant Solicitor
Barry graduated in Arts and Law from the Australian National University in 1977, is admitted in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland and has been a partner in law firms in New South Wales and the Gold Coast.
Actively involved in community affairs over the years including Apex clubs, community radio, arts and theatre companies, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation projects, Barry was a member of a Rotary International group study tour of India, is past President of the Wagga Wagga Chamber of Commerce and has lectured to many community and business groups on legal topics. He lives at Burleigh Heads with wife Laura and their three teenage sons with whom he shares an interest in martial arts, books and outdoor sports. Barry is also a writer and his current novel “The Dark Side” is in bookshops and has become a best-seller around Australia.
He has practised widely, particularly in property law, business law, commercial litigation and has a strong interest and experience in family law.
ROBERT BUCKLAND LLB. Consultant Solicitor
Rob has resided on the Gold Coast since 1951 receiving his secondary education at The Southport School before attending the University of Queensland where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1976. He was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1978 and also a Solicitor of the High Court of Australia.
Rob has many years experience in the commercial / property areas of law, particularly in property development both residential and commercial, general property conveyancing, as well as business sales and purchase and also lease work for both landlords and tenants. He is also a part-time lecturer in real estate at the Real Estate Institute of Queensland.
Rob’s sporting interests include triathlon and surfing. He was a founding member of the Gold Coast Triathlon Club (now the Surfers Paradise Triathlon Club) and is a member of the Gold Coast Masters Swim Club and the Gold Coast Runners Club.
SEIJI ISEKI B.A. (Hons.) LLB.
Seiji was admitted as a Solicitor in November 2001 having completed his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Queensland in 2000. He also completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) majoring in Asian Studies (Korean language) at Griffith University in 2000.
He was born in Shigaken, in central Japan. Seiji has lived in Australia for ten years.
Seiji's experience is in migration law, litigation, family law, criminal law and a variety of commercial legal services. He also has interest in intellectual property law, and international human rights laws.
Seiji is involved in martial arts and is enthusiastic about keeping fit.
